The first dentons was published in Bath in 1967. More than fifty years later, we now distribute over 500,000 directories to more than 50 areas in the South West.

Origins of Dentons Directories
In 1967 and working from his home in Bath, John Denton (left) developed an idea to create a local business and services directory to bring in advertising revenue with copies then delivered free to every residential and commercial address within the Bath area and as such, the first ever dentons directory came to be.
When the Bath directory proved successful, John expanded the idea to the surrounding area. The directories took on a distinctive visual style, the front cover of each directory being a hand drawn sketch by John Denton’s son, Roger.

In 1985, Roger Denton joined his father in the business, with his brother Robin Denton following a year later. Roger and Robin bought the business from their father in 1988 and in 1989, Dentons Directories Ltd was formed. In 1994, Ken Birleson joined the board as a Director.
In recent years, the number of printed directories has increased to 25 and national directory information is now available online through dentons.net. Dentons also offers digital marketing services through its in-house creative department.
In 2011, the company purchased Bridge House in Westbury and relocated its operations there.
At Dentons, everyone is encouraged to play a part in driving the business forward. We recognise our people as our greatest asset and we are proud to include in our team, long-servers who have been with the company for over 15 years, with some approaching 20 years.
